GROW THROUGH SCRIPTURE
Faith is not something we manufacture through will power or positive thinking. Scripture is clear: “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). Faith is formed, strengthened, and sustained when God’s Word is heard clearly and received rightly.
The Word of God gives us faith to believe in Jesus—and just as importantly, faith to become more like Him. This matters because faith does not grow by hearing sermons centered on our goals, ambitions, or personal success. The Bible was never meant to be a motivational speech wrapped in religious language. When God’s Word is handled rightly, it points us to Christ, not ourselves. It stirs adoration and affection for Jesus, not self-centered expectation.
This is why Scripture reading is essential to a healthy faith. If we do not have a regular diet of God’s Word, our faith will be malnourished. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a believer or how often you attend church—faith needs a daily intake. That intake doesn’t have to be overwhelming. It could be one verse, one chapter, or even a single passage you meditate on throughout the day. Consistent exposure to God’s Word is the most potent and reliable way to hear the voice of Christ.
There will still be difficult seasons. Even while reading Scripture, you may feel weak or discouraged. But God’s Word keeps faith from sliding into unbelief. In hard moments, the Word becomes an anchor—like returning again and again to Psalm 23 and finding fresh hope that the valley will not last forever.
God also strengthens our faith through sound, biblical preaching. When we gather and sit under faithful teaching, God reveals Christ to us in ways that meet us personally and powerfully.
So if you’re reading Scripture, listening to teaching, and still feel stuck, don’t give up. Faith grows not just when we hear God’s Word—but when we obey it, trust it, and allow it to shape our lives. Keep listening. Keep leaning in. God is at work.
