YOU HAVE ENOUGH

A bunch of sweaty football players walking off the field. The crashes of pad still dancing in everyone's ear. Another good practice had because no injuries came to past. High fives and parents chatting on the sideline about lunch plans. A perfect practice it seemed until this happened. My daughter suddenly grabbed my arm and whispered, "Dad... I don't feel good." Before I could respond, her knees buckled and just before she crashes to the floor I catch her in my arms. Our hearts beating with adrenalines and our imaginations running a million miles a second. What's wrong was the question that loomed?

A few minutes later we learned the problem wasn't complicated. She was dehydrated! This girl passed out because she was thirsty! At a football game in the south where water is every where. Water had been available the entire time, but she hadn't been drinking it. The very thing she needed was within reach, yet she kept trying to get by without it. Eventually, what she lacked impacted her well being.

I wonder how many of us are living that way.

Maybe your lack isn't physical. Maybe you're running low on hope, peace, purpose, joy, or strength. You smile when people ask how you're doing, but deep down you're exhausted. You've learned to function with empty reserves.

That's exactly where the disciples found themselves in Mark 6. Thousands of hungry people stood before them, and all they could see was five loaves and two fish. Their eyes were fixed on what they lacked. But Jesus asked a different question: "How many loaves do you have?"

Jesus wasn't ignoring the need. He was redirecting their focus.

So often we approach life by listing everything that's missing. "If I only had more time... more resources... more confidence..." But Jesus invites us to take inventory of what we do have and place it into His hands. There's a miracle in your little. Its not about the resources but more so about who's hands are the resources in.

Maybe all you have is a small amount of faith. Maybe all you have is a broken heart that longs for hope. Maybe all you have is a willingness to take one step toward God. Don't underestimate what Jesus can do with what you surrender to Him.

For those who already follow Christ, this is a reminder that God has never needed abundant resources to accomplish His purposes. He simply asks for willing hearts.

For those still searching, know this: Jesus isn't waiting for you to have your life together before you come to Him. He invites you just as you are. Bring your questions, your disappointments, your failures, and your emptiness. He specializes in taking what seems insufficient and turning it into more than enough.

What is in your hands today? Whatever it is, place it in the hands of Jesus. You'll discover that His power is always greater than your lack.
