God is still faithful

Scripture: "Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk... and blessed is the one who is not offended by me." — Matthew 11:4-6

In 2018 my family took a great leap of faith. We moved away from all we ever known to a city that we didn't know at all. The expectation was upon arrival there will be a learning curve of getting used to the area, but everything would be great for the most part. My expectation was that everything would quickly work itself out. Well, that wasn't the case and after delivering a child in the middle of a snow storm, dealing with unhappy teenagers, and experiencing family loss. The question that begin to stir up in my heart was did I get it right?

Have you ever wondered if you made the right decision? Maybe you stepped out in faith, obeyed God, and instead of experiencing peace, you found yourself facing disappointment, hardship, or uncertainty. T

John the Baptist knew exactly what that felt like. He faithfully proclaimed God's message, prepared the way for Jesus, and boldly stood for truth. Yet instead of receiving a reward, he found himself sitting in a prison cell. From that dark place, doubt crept in. He sent his disciples to ask Jesus, "Are you really the Messiah?"

Jesus' response is remarkable. He didn't explain why John was suffering or promise an immediate rescue. Instead, He pointed John to His faithfulness. "Tell John what you hear and see." In other words, don't judge God's faithfulness by your circumstances—judge your circumstances by God's faithfulness.

That same reminder is for us today. When life becomes difficult, remember how God has carried you before. Remember the prayers He has answered, the strength He has given, and the lives He continues to change. His character has not changed simply because your circumstances has.

You may not understand what God is doing today, but you can trust who He has always been. The God who was faithful yesterday is faithful today, and He will be faithful tomorrow. Keep following Him even when the road is hard.
