JESUS DIDN’T COME TO SAVE YOUR PLANS

Have you ever followed someone only to discover they were taking you somewhere you never intended to go?

This is exactly what happened to Peter. He had finally recognized Jesus as the Messiah, the one Israel had been waiting for. But when Jesus began explaining that He would suffer, be rejected, and ultimately be killed, Peter couldn't accept it. This wasn't the Messiah he had imagined. Peter wanted a conquering King, not a suffering Savior.

The problem wasn't that Peter had misunderstood who Jesus was. It was that he had already decided what Jesus should do.

We can fall into the same trap. We develop a picture of what our lives should look like, where our careers should go, what our relationships should become, and how our future should unfold. Then we invite Jesus into that picture, expecting Him to make our plans a reality.

We want a Savior who rescues our dreams, protects our comfort, and removes our difficulties. But Jesus didn't come to save our plans. He came to save us from our sins.

That's why Jesus tells His followers, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me" (Mark 8:34).

Following Jesus means surrendering the right to be the architect of your own life. It means saying no to the desires that pull you away from Him and yes to the things He calls you toward—even when obedience is uncomfortable, costly, or leads somewhere unexpected.

Here's the beautiful truth: Jesus never asks us to walk a road He hasn't walked Himself. He carried His cross, endured suffering, and gave His life so that we could be reconciled to God. But the grave wasn't the end. He rose again, securing the eternal life we could never earn.

So the question isn't whether Jesus fits into your plans. The question is whether your plans have surrendered to His.

What are you holding onto that Jesus is asking you to surrender?

Don't simply invite Jesus to follow your blueprint. Put your life in His hands and follow Him wherever He leads.

Because losing your life for Christ is the only way to discover the life that truly lasts.
